6 Video Game Franchises That Need Open World Games

6. Star Wars

Star Wars 1313 Spanning a galaxy far far away, the Star Wars franchise has already attempted an open world approach to its universe with the KoToR series, which has recently been made available for iPad. Knights of the Old Republic is a great game and a great first attempt at codifying the universe in a playable format. What it lacks however are some of the modern advancements that make games like Skyrim such a success. For example, the Wookie homeworld Kashyyyk is an incredibly limited environment and could benefit from the random spawning abilities of today's processors. To explore the endless deserts of Tatooine or forge your path in politics on Coruscant; the best Star Wars game would be one that allowed you to choose a time frame and allow you to have the option to earn the ways of the force or to take up arms against the Rebellion, to hire yourself as a smuggler or to just adventure the planets, which of course would include all the ones listed on the official map. Minigames would involve the purchase and maintenance of your own ship, the relationships you can build with others using a similar companion system to KoToR. There is no reason why the relaunch of the franchise in 2015 should not be accompanied with this opportunity to create your own Star Wars story, first hand.
