6 Video Game Franchises That Need Open World Games

5. Doctor Who

doctor who trenzalore The "Adventure Games" series was a good distraction from the terrible bouts of season 6 but they had an empty feel about them. I commend them for being able to produce enjoyable games under a small BBC budget, but the run could have benefited from outsourcing it to a major production company. Doctor Who hinges on exploration and adventure and a game that reflects this would be appreciated by fans and non-fans alike. The full extent of the Doctor Who universe is not as clear cut as that of Star Wars, and the game would have to compensate by only using planets familiar to players, including (obviously) Earth, Gallifrey, Skaro and many others. The game could allow you to choose to play as The Doctor himself, in any incarnation (allowing access to most planets), one of his companions, or could allow you to create your own Time Lord character which would open the opportunity to play through events like the Time War. An aspect of the game would involve time travel mechanics, allowing you to visit the same planets at different (significant) points in time which enables a constantly renewing gameplay experience. In addition, a "reactions" system would allow your actions in the past to affect the future, with many different outcomes of your travels open to the player. Although unlikely, this project could eventually succeed through funding sources like Kickstarter, mobilizing the fanbase towards a shared goal.
