6 Video Game Sequels With Worse Graphics Than The Original

3. Devil May Cry 2

Capcom

Devil May Cry 2 has always been considered the odd one out in the DmC franchise. Taking everything that worked in the original game and essentially flushing it all down the toilet, this sequel's boss battles were easy, uninspired afterthoughts, the combat as a whole was far more basic and even Dante's personality was massively toned down.

Consequently, it seems about right that the visuals were similarly botched, and just as mundane as the actual gameplay. Many sections pulled the camera out far too much, giving Dante a bigger fighting space but ultimately making the maps themselves feel empty and lifeless. At least that meant you didn't have to see the lack of detail up close and personal, though.

Unlike the colourful original featured above, DmC 2 suffered from the same problem which dogged so many action games of the PS2 era, prioritising grey industrial areas that sucked out what little personality the title had left.
