Oh, Legacy Of Kain, let me count the ways in which I love you. An epic tale of loyalty, betrayal and destiny, the Legacy of Kain series really paved the way for the narrative heavy blockbusters of today, introducing fully-formed characters who actually felt like they had importance and agency with plot twists that gripped and shocked right up until the end. It also had cracking puzzles and satisfyingly huge boss battles. What more could you want? With it's sky high production values, complex script and top-class voice actors The Legacy Of Kain always felt special, and looking back at the team involved it's not hard to see why. The lead writer and director from Soul Reaver onwards was Amy Hennig, who later went on to write and direct Naughty Dog's flagship series, Uncharted. The plot that had begun in Soul Reaver was largely concluded in Legacy Of Kain: Defiance, but any hopes of the open ending leading into a new era for Nosgoth were soon dashed when Hennig departed Crystal Dynamics and publishers Eidos put the series on hold. It's been 15 years now since Defiance was released and we're further than ever from having a new LOK game to look forward to. And no, I'm not counting the Nosgoth MMORPG because why would you?
Stereotypically awkward writer, gamer and general nerd. Dislikes writing in the third person, likes tea as much as the next man but not as much as a typical blogger and has breath as fresh as a summer ham.
