6 Video Games You Can't Deny Would Be GREAT Movies
2. L.A. Noire
You could say you've seen this all before, but a 1940's murder-mystery thriller hasn't been tackled on the big screen properly in quite some time.
The episodic way in which each case unfolds could be made into a TV series, but with the other procedural crime dramas on the small screen, the adaptation could be lost in the saturated market. The one thing that makes this stand out amongst the rest is the period setting of post-WW2 lives in Los Angeles; and to translate the sprawling 1940's LA into the big screen would make the city a character in and of itself within the film.
An intelligent and thought-provoking film rests within the LA Noire video game; if a studio picks it up it would be wise for them to focus their attention on one of the three main police departments of the game. The film could focus on the Black Dahlia thread from Homicide, the Army Surplus Morphine from Vice, or the Suburban Redevelopment Conspiracy from Arson. By focussing on one police department, space is freed up for development in Cole Phelps' family, his relationships and maybe even the psyche of the main criminals.
