7 Best Pirate Video Games

The Shantae franchise is a collection of action-platformers where you play as the titular Shantae. Whilst all of the Shantae games are at least good, it's only Shantae and the Pirate's Curse that manages to be exceptional. It's also the only explicitly pirate-themed one so that's always a plus.

After the events of the previous game Shantae: Risky's Revenge, Shantae the half-genie loses her magical abilities.

You think this would make the gameplay of Pirate's Curse much worse than a game where you have special powers yet the opposite is actually true.

The magic in the previous games involves Shantae dancing, something that completely kills the pace. Here you have cool pirate weapons which you can chain the uses of together leading to the most satisfying gameplay in the entire series by far.

In Pirate's Curse, you team up with the pirate Risky Boots and travel around on a ship to go to different islands on an adventure to beat the evil Pirate Master.

If you are going to play any Shantae game then play Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, it's available on basically everything and is one of the best modern 2D platformers. If the other Shantae games were this good, maybe she’d be in Smash properly.
