7 Characters That Must Be Cut From Super Smash Bros. Switch

2. Dr. Mario

There was understandable outcry when it was revealed, thanks to a series of huge leaks, that Dr. Mario would be making his long-awaited (hmm) return to Smash Bros. Last seen in Melee, the clone of Mario was a strange choice to make the final roster, especially when fans were clamouring for Melee favourites like Mewtwo and Roy.

Like Lucina before him on this list, Dr. Mario would better serve the game as a skin of Mario himself. He's unique enough to be a 'different character' and he represents a full game in itself, so to have Dr. Mario on the roster isn't a crime - but he should be a skin, hopefully one of an ever-improving roster of alternate character options.

It's likely that Dr. Mario was a last-minute addition to the game, a quick and easy-to-develop character who was added in to beef up the roster numbers. It stands to reason then that we might see more of these kinds of characters in the Smash Switch roster. In this way, the likes of Pichu may even make a surprise comeback!
