7 Dead Video Game Franchises That Need A God Of War-Style Reboots
6. The Batman: Arkham Franchise
If there's one sad truth we hate to admit about the Arkham franchise, it's that the games hit a sense of fatigue they could never really break from. They grew in size, scale, ambition and scope, but that couldn't mask the fact that each sequel was confident to follow the path Asylum pioneered, instead of veering off into uncharted territory. The franchise simply needs something fresh to re-energise its audience, a feat that could be achieved by taking influence from something as revitalising as God Of War.
Arkham Knight's ending saw Bruce Wayne shed his billionaire playboy persona to go full caped crusader; a story arc that could aim for a much more character-driven sequel with a much different Dark Knight.
Having a game that really cashes in on an older, exiled, almost Dark Knight Returns-esque Batman could be the palate cleanser the fans really need; trading in the fast-paced rhythmic combat for a slower, crunchier and more brutal fighting style that replicates Kratos's deadly arsenal of moves.
Refining the map so it's as detailed (yet contained) as God Of War or Arkham Asylum's open-worlds would be the ribbon to tie it all together, making this the revamp that launches the fading franchise back into the stratosphere.
