2. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (PS2)
With the brilliant looking GTAV on the horizon, there may not be a better time to revisit the neon-hued Vice City, arguably the most characterful and atmospheric entry in the series so far. Following on from the revolutionary GTA III Rockstar took us back to the 80s, and produced a loving tribute to the style, culture, and tropes of the decade. Parodying everything from Miami Vice to Scarface, Vice City was a colourful and fun antidote to the rather gritty and po-faced Liberty City of its predecessor. But it also harks back to a time when GTA games were more simple. Back before they tacked on bizarre features like hunger, haircuts, and having to take your cousin bowling every ten minutes. Vice City does already exist in HD form, thanks to the efforts of the PC modding community. But really, is there any reason that console gamers shouldn't be able to get in on the fun as well?
