4. Ubisoft - Endless Sandbox Games
Whilst it may be fair to say that the recent Assassins Creed games have breathed some life into the flatlining series, it doesn't equate for the rest of their catalogue.
The Ghost Recon games have devolved from tight, action-packed shooters to open world fetch quests. Watch_Dogs was an uninspired flop (although the sequel improved on that), and as for FarCry, well... methinks the idea trough is running low. Even Steep become a jumbled mess of an open world snowbox, littered with so many thinned down events.
But whilst games like For Honour failed to smash any records, it does show signs that someone at Ubisoft still has faith in a non-sandbox world.
Prince of Persia could do with a decent reboot, having been dormant for a while.
And let's not forget Ubisoft's other staple series: the almighty Splinter Cell.
But how can we forget? They keep shoehorning him into Ghost Recon, if only just as nostalgia bait.
C'mon Ubi, give us something better than just "collect the things" over and over again. Much like with EA, the market is there...
