7 Great Video Game Developers Who Keep Making TERRIBLE Mistakes
2. Rockstar - Ditching Single Player DLC
Does anyone remember The Lost and The Damned, or perhaps the Ballad of Gay Tony? Or how about Undead Nightmare? Don't they seem so long ago now...
Well, that's because they are. Eleven years ago Tony Prince exploded onto Grand Theft Auto IV, whilst Undead Nightmare came out a year later.
Those were the last two single player, story-based DLC's that Rockstar put out for GTA and Red Dead Redemption, respectively. Ten whole years.
In the seven years since GTA V's been out, we've had countless amounts of multiplayer add ons, so much so that it's off-putting to new players. Similarly, 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2 has jumped on this wagon, pun intended, and put out batches of content for Red Dead Online.
That's because GTA Online has earned over a billion dollars in profit. Why would Rockstar care about making maybe half of that when online players are throwing money at them?
The crushing blow came when they were quick to announce no new single player DLC for RDR2. It's like they'd given up before it even came out.
There's still an audience for it, I hope one day they cotton on to that again.
