7 Most Destructive Video Game Shotguns
3. Mastiff - Titanfall 2
The Mastiff shotgun is of course rightly feared in Apex Legends, which is set in the same universe as Titanfall. However, I’d argue the weapon was even more effective in Titanfall 2.
The wall running ability, which was jettisoned for Apex Legends, gave players who relish close-quarters combat the chance to rush their enemies with terrifying speed – ducking and weaving through gunfire before dashing along a wall, and using the elevation as a springboard to land next to an opponent and deliver the killing blow. What a great feeling.
If this was your preferred style of play, then the Mastiff was surely your first-choice weapon.
The most unusual aspect of the gun is its flat horizontal spread. It should also be noted that the Mastiff is a non-hitscan weapon; the straight line of projectiles takes a little time to travel and must be accounted for when aiming at a fast moving target - which was frequently the case in Titanfall.
All this added up to the Mastiff being a fun - and occasionally frustrating weapon - to use.
As an aside, I’d be remiss to not mention the Mozambique shotgun-pistol which also originated in Titanfall 2 - a weapon that is so ineffective that it spawned a whole haul of memes when Apex Legends launched. A shotgun hall-of-shamer to be sure.
