7 Reasons Bloodborne Is The Game Of The Generation

3. That Fighting Feeling

From Software games are perhaps most famous (or infamous depending on your viewpoint) for the challenging ordeals they throw players into. But what a disservice this does for their combat mechanics, because they really are best in class, and Bloodborne is their Magnum Opus in this respect.

It feels so responsive and clean; you really have full control and if you die, it is without doubt your own fault.

The frustration that comes with this is only matched by the elation a player feels when they really start to get to grips with it. The real stroke of genius comes in the form of a life-restoring mechanic that rewards aggression in a series of games well known for punishing impatience.

It is a combat system that relies so much on you being at your best, learning opponents' tells and reacting with sharpened reflexes, with adrenaline often taking control of your hands wrapped ever tighter around that controller.

All of this makes for an experience unmatched in other games - even those of From Software's.
