7 Reasons EFootball 2022’s Launch Has Been A Disaster And Spells The End Of PES

1. The Worst Gameplay In Any Football Game For Years

PES has always won the battle of the gameplay. Even in recent years, when the series has not done as well compared to its rival, the releases have played well.

Two years ago it was confirmed the property would move to the new Ultimate Engine and the gameplay would be completely redone. It brought optimism that, not only would Konami's football title play the best, but things would move to a different level for eFootball.

In recent years, the series has had huge financial success on mobile, but this is how eFootball now plays on PS5 and Xbox Series X - like a mobile game!

It is barely recognisable from the latest PES titles, and for most will not be playable. Every portion of the game is basic, from passing to shooting, as well as dribbling. Even elements such as different types of shots are set to be added into the game at a later date.

Turning with a player takes ages, and you can see each individual animation the selected player is making. At times it just feels unresponsive, and even simple parts of the game seem very slow.

Even with all the other problems the game has, if Konami had made the basis of a classic Pro Evolution game with great gameplay, it could have made eFootball successful in the long run. Sadly, they haven't and this is the most disappointing element of all.

The launch all but signals the end of the great Pro Evolution Soccer series.
