7 Reasons Horizon Zero Dawn Is Better Than Uncharted 4

5. Satisfying Gunplay/Combat

There's a good reason many players of Uncharted 4 turned on the auto-aim. Or rather, the fact Naughty Dog included the option whatsoever proves even they knew their shooting wasn't as responsive or satisfying as it could or should be.

Not to repeat the 'gameplay loops' point, but the actual act of playing Uncharted never clicked as much as the genre demands. Naughty Dog always framed Drake as a bullet-dodging scrapper, barely making it through any number of firefights unscathed, yet in-game, far too many encroaching enemies would force you to run ahead or to another piece of cover - only for the A.I.'s super aim to slice you in half.

Combine this with screen-shake when you get hit, a dodge roll that was almost entirely useless and a screen that quickly became caked in a red hue, and you were fighting the game's HUD about as much as who was firing. Compared to Horizon, and immediately Aloy's movements are responsive, tactile, combinable and fast. There are multiple slow-motion toggles when aiming to help secure headshots, and it's not until you're REALLY low on health, that the game turns black and white to showcase this.

In other words, it feels far more like it's you who caused your hero's death, rather than some impossible shot-nailing A.I. who took your ankles off whilst you were trying to see through the motion blur.
