7 Ridiculously Hard Boss Battles Hiding In Easy Video Games

2. Miracle Matter - Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

The Kirby games, and to be honest, Nintendo games in general, are well-known for being easy games with, often ridiculously hard boss battles.

Miracle Matter is the final boss of Kirby 64, the little pink puffball’s one and only appearance on Nintendo’s massively innovative 3D console. This is a huge difficulty spike in Kirby 64, and one that will take unsuspecting peaceful Kirby lovers hours to finally defeat.

He’s not even the true final boss either, if the player manages to collect all 74 crystal shards, they will face 0² - the true driving force behind the dark matter poisoning the land. However, after the fight with Miracle Matter, 0² and his simple Star Fox-style encounter design almost pales in comparison.

Miracle Matter is an icosahedron, but its appearance changes throughout the encounter, morphing into forms that utilise each one of Kirby’s own powers that we have used throughout the game - Electric, Ice, Rock, Fire, Bomb, Needle and Cutter.

Using our own powers against us is just the worst! Fortunately, we can also use them against him, but fighting fire with fire has never been so stressful.
