7 Sports Which Are Underrepresented In Video Games
4. Dodgeball
Dodgeball has a reputation of being a sport aimed more at children and teenagers due to it being popular in schools. However, there is a variety of different dodgeball tournaments worldwide, especially in the United States.
The basic premise of dodgeball is all in the name, making it easy to understand to all audiences at a quick glance. Despite the sport’s popularity and the ease of understanding, the market for dodgeball video games is very limited. The few titles that are currently available are all very stylized. None of them offer the same realistic style of gameplay found in titles from the FIFA franchise of NBA 2K franchise.
Examples of dodgeball games include 2016’s Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure, a four player free-for-all with cartoony graphics, 2015’s Robot Roller-Derby Disco Dodgeball, which features a variety of modes set across multi-tiered neon-coloured maps, and 2019’s Super Dodgeball Beats, which is a dodgeball rhythm game. While these titles are fun experiences, none of them actually feel like playing the sport of dodgeball.
