Though the Outlast games first released in 2013 and 2017 respectively, both were ported to the Nintendo Switch earlier this year, and in many ways it's the perfect home for the first-person survival horror titles.

The Switch's portability allows a very specific sense of immersion, and while your significant other might not appreciate your screams, playing the Outlast games on the Switch with some earbuds while curled up in bed is just perfect.

Both games are centred around suspenseful hide-and-seek gameplay, and while the lack of conventional action won't be for everyone, the sheer heart-pounding terror of evading a fleet of deranged killers ensures you'll be kept plenty busy.

Though the Switch version of Outlast 2 isn't as visually lavish as prior releases, it's nevertheless impressive just how fantastic both games look on the platform, losing none of their original, eerie intensity.
