7 Most Unique Boss Battles Of All Time

2. The Big Daddies - BioShock

BioShock is honestly just something of a miracle. Combining brilliant social commentary, an immersive environment, and great FPS mechanics, BioShock helped bring new life into the industry by extending the scope of what video games could embody. To simplify the complex backstory of this game, BioShock tells how objectivist magnate Andrew Ryan created a government-free utopia that eventually dissolved into a dystopia when class warfare erupted from the use of superpower granting chemicals called plasmids. To increase the supply of ADAM (used to create plasmids) for the war effort, little girls were injected with the substance from birth. Guarding these little girls till they were ready to be harvested were the monstrosities called Big Daddies, which you are required to face if you want to gain enough power to escape this haunting city. Big Daddies are unique not just for the reason that they're tremendously powerful, but for the emotional traits present in them. These men, grafted into scuba suits, are actually peaceful beings that only show signs of aggression if you come a little too close to their Little Girl (or attack them of your own accord). It really takes the whole maternal instinct to a whole new level, and I mean that as they present some of the toughest fights you'll have to undergo while in Rapture. From rocket launchers to drills to full out body slams, they'll do whatever it takes to protect their Little Girl from getting taken. I tell you, nothing is more sad than seeing a Big Daddy knock on the hideout of a Little Girl, only to wait for no response. That is, nothing except the next item on this list....

Red Stewart is big fan of the entertainment industry, with insights into film, television, and video games for starters. Despite growing up in the 21st century's era of modernization, he prefers many retro era ideas over the current trends found in many of today's media. Personally he's an introvert who loves reading as much as gaming.
