7 Ups & 6 Downs From E3 2019

Ups

7. Keanu Reeves (And Cyberpunk 2077)

Microsoft's conference started out so strong. Starting with The Outer Worlds, the console maker jumped straight into a brand new trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 - one of the most anticipated games of the entire generation - which ended on a particularly mind-blowing reveal: Keanu Reeves is playing a character in the story.

Even better, Big K came out on stage to a whooping applause, before bellowing out "CYBERPUNK!" and revealing April 2020 as the game's release date. It was a flurry of announcements, and it was the kind of big media bluster that these companies can only get away with at E3, but it totally worked.

Cyberpunk's latest trailer was exceptional, highlighting the title's fantastic graphics and performance capture technology, while also giving fans a deeper look at the story, and V's motivation. It was a bit of a shame that it was entirely CG (a problem I'll get to in more detail later), but Keanu's presence and an actual release date - which is sooner than a lot of people expected, no less - easily made it a highlight of the event.
