7 Video Game Heroes Who Broke Their "No Killing" Rule
3. Green Lantern - Mortal Kombat Vs. DC
MK vs DC might have been pretty disappointing after years of NetherRealm talking about how they were going to significantly revamp Mortal Kombat, but its outright bad stuff came from many of the DC roster's inclusion.
Namely, the largely terrible "Heroic Brutalities" that replaced Fatalities, as DC didn't want their flagship heroes killing anyone in increasingly disgusting ways (remember, this was years before they loosened up for Injustice).
Even the Fatalities we did get were notably more "child-friendly", as the likes of Kano could be seen mortally wounding someone by... jumping on their chest, and Jax busted out a few machine gun bullets for his big finish.
However, there was one character - Green Lantern - whose finishers were clearly killing people, and were even mimicked in the next proper Mortal Kombat by psychokinetic warrior, Kenshi.
First up, the Hammer Smash - here Lantern crushes his opponent's abdomen into a dinner plate, in between two ginormous hammers. There's literally no way this doesn't result in instant death.
Second - and worse - is the Orb Squeeze, the Kenshi-style crushing of a person's entire skeleton, until they're just a sphere of broken bones and flesh.
Again, there is NO way anyone makes it out the other end of either of these still breathing.
