7 Video Games With Enormous Hollywood Movie Potential
3. Metroid
With Hollywood finally realising that bad ass heroines can put bums in seats, Metroid would provide the major studios with the opportunity to add another iconic character to the vanguard. Samus Aran made her debut in 1986's Metroid as an ex-soldier of the Galactic Federation turned bounty hunter, tasked with taking down a group of marauding space pirates.
Things spiral out of control when it turns out that the pirates are attempting to use a parasitic life form to create a biological weapon in order to take out the Federation once and for all.
This could be Star Trek by way of Alien, providing audiences with a nerve-wracking experience as Samus is forced to traverse horrifying caverns, whilst taking out creatures out of Gieger's darkest dreams. The game and eery soundtrack grossed me out as a kid and I believe this could provide a new generation with an Ellen Ripley like character to get behind.
The claustrophobic and grotesque nature of the game could provide an incredible backdrop for a series of adventures featuring one of video games most iconic heroes. The world wants more strong female protagonists and Samus Aran is perfectly placed to fill that gap.
