Wolfenstein 3D is a similar story to Duke Nukem 3D. The game that everybody remembers is the third in the series as it was hugely influential to FPS's as a genre.

The difference here is the original Wolfenstein game, Castle Wolfenstein is actually a pretty interesting game, and one of the most important games in the evolution of the stealth genre.

It also used procedural generation to create the titular "Castle Wolfenstein", which wasn't a new thing at the time but wasn't as common as it is now.

The game is important and more known than any other game on this list, but if you asked some random person off the street what the first Wolfenstein game was, 25% of people would probably answer this: Wolfenstein 3D.

It's a bit dated now, but Castle Wolfenstein is definitely worth a play, it's nowhere near as good as the modern games in the series or even Wolfenstein 3D but it's an interesting game that you can have some fun with.
