7 Ways PES 2018 Is Better Than FIFA 18
2. Scripted Elements Feel Less Forced
The war for drama rages on in FIFA. EA's franchise lives and breathes by moments like Sergio Agüero's title-clinching goal from 2012. Since then, FIFA has gone scripting daft and shows no signs of slowing down. This is particularly frustrating when a shoddy CPU (who has been playing terribly) strings together pass after pass to get a free shot on goal.
Meanwhile, players seem powerless to stop them. The game engine dictated that this was going to happen regardless of how frantically you mashed the tackle button or how the game had been going beforehand. It's nonsense, not realistic when it happens constantly and does little to inspire confidence that each match is a unique battle between teams capable of playing differently.
In PES 2018, late goals can and will happen, but they do so because of your actions. If you blow that 2 goal lead with minutes to go it's usually your fault and not due to any yearning from developers to turn every match into a YouTube classic.
Oh yeah, and PES also features the occasional 0-0 draw during which nothing of note happens. That's EA's nightmare.
