7 Ways Ubisoft Killed For Honor

2. Microtransactions

Everyone's favourite part of modern gaming. Why play a game when you can pay to not play the game and get all the benefits of doing absolutely nothing.

Genius, right? Well, For Honor took it to a new level.

As previously mentioned, it would take 1,098,000 Steel to unlock everything in the game, or you could spend the obscene price of £585. To put that into perspective, at time of writing the game currently costs around £33 on Amazon. You could buy 17 copies of For Honor and still have a little bit left over for that price. In terms of microtransactions in what is already a full-priced game, that is insane.

And yes, you could argue that they are all cosmetic items and that doesn't actually translate to in-game skill or even upgrades to an extent, but asking players to pay that amount of money after purchasing the game to really 'get their money's worth', is just stupid.

You could also say that it doesn't matter and that people can pay for it if they want and it doesn't affect you, but in the current climate of anti-microtransactions, it certainly didn't help For Honor's shelf life by having such insane requirements.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
