7 WWE Video Games WORSE Than 2K20
6. WWE WrestleMania 21 (Xbox)
Why bother making a game called WrestleMania 21 when you don't include WrestleMania 21 as a playable arena?
That though is the least of this game's issues. Releasing in 2005 to coincide with the event, this game was set to replace the Raw series on Xbox (which was to short-lived alternative to the PlayStation-exclusive SmackDown series) with former Mortal Kombat developer John Tobias at the helm.
This game was basically 2K20 before 2K20, in that everything felt half done with broken features and an online option that didn't work at all. Gameplay was also a mess with dumb AI to make things ridiculously easy with their predictable offence and animation loops. Hit detection was notoriously broken, constantly missing standing grapples and almost never connecting ground moves.
The graphics were very good for the time and there were plenty of gameplay options to choose from (but only if you played 1-on-1 matches), but actually playing these matches becomes a total slog from a basic gameplay practice that's not at all fun. The potential was there, but the execution was beyond sloppy.
