7 WWE Video Games WORSE Than 2K20
4. WWF WrestleMania: Steel Cage Challenge (Sega Master System & NES)
This game was the first WWE title to feature the steel cage match on consoles, hence publisher Acclaim hawking it in the title. Not that it had anything else going for it, mind.
The game was released on the Master System and NES with different rosters for both, but none of that matters when every wrestler had the exact same limited moveset and no finishing moves to distinguish themselves. Once again, it featured a shocking lack of game modes, limited to singles, tag team and the titular steel cage.
Speaking of which, there is no major gameplay shift when fighting in the cage, with two exceptions: firstly, if you go to the bottom half of the ring you can't see a thing because the cage is so thick, and secondly you win the match not by pinfall, submission or escaping the cage. You climb to the top of the cage and the match ends.
Apparently someone thought this was acceptable and timeless as the game received a re-release some-25 years later through plug-and-play. And it was just as tedious as before.
