2. Resident Evil 4 (Hookman Version)
After the Devil May Cry and Fog versions of Resi 4 were canned, the developers decided to shake up the series in a unique way. This resulted in the Hookman version, which would have seen Leon infected with a virus that caused violent hallucinations. The creative director of this version felt players got too used to the formula of previous games, and the hallucinations would allow them to toy with expectations in unpredictable ways. A number of features made it into the final game, like the third-person perspective, the use of grenades and occasional QTEs. This version also featured a flashlight, enemy dolls and the player being pursued by an un-killable 'Hookman' enemy. Capcom were high on the concept for awhile until the limitations of the GameCube brought it to a halt. For a start, they would have had to build two different versions of each area because of the hallucinations, which memory limits prevented. For that and other reasons, the game was scrapped again.
