5. Assassin's Creed Revelations - Entering The Masyaf Library

Ezio Auditore's final adventure takes him to Constantinople and Masyaf in order to locate the secrets left behind by the legendary Altair. His search sees him on the hunt for Masyaf keys, artefacts that contain memory fragments of Altair, and can also open the sealed door underneath Masyaf castle.

At the end of this quest, Ezio manages to collect all Masyaf keys and returns to the abandoned assassin stronghold to open the library down below. What lies inside the library, Ezio does not know. Yet, he hopes whatever is waiting for him on the other side of the library door, can offer him clarity and meaning in his tragic life.

When Ezio finally enters the library, he finds no books to help provide the answers he seeks. Instead, he comes upon the centuries-old body of Altair seated peacefully inside an empty library. In a chilling scene, the two leads of the franchise meet for the first time, with one kneeling and wishing for the other to rest in peace in the afterlife.

On Altair's lap, Ezio collects another Masyaf key. This memory fragment contains the few, precious moments preceding Altair's death. From one last conversation with his son to Altair gradually and shakily approaching the chair he would die in, Ezio watches it all. At the end of this recording, Ezio is led to another apple of eden within the library, and not until he comes into contact with the artifact, does he come to terms with his purpose and place in the assassin and templar struggle.
