8 Best Boss Fights From Batman's Arkham Series

5. Poison Ivy - Batman Arkham Asylum

I imagine this will be the most controversial selection on the list. Ivy was not per say an enjoyable boss because she is undoubtedly the hardest boss across the three games. I must have spent at least 4o minutes attempting to defeat her on Hard mode. But one of the things the Batman Arkham series is praised for is challenging the player and making them concentrate so I feel this deserves a place on the list. In this fight Batman has to divert his attention between three forms of attack: the toxic bubbles fired out, the weeds that strangle you and Ivy's intoxicated henchman. The camera angle can sometimes make the player forgot about one of these three threats and if they do then it can cost them. This is not to mention the fact that Ivy is shielded, and the player can easily miss the opening she gives. Whilst the fight itself was not that enjoyable the sense of achievement after defeating her certainly was. Unfortunately this boss battle did not change its layout at all, meaning it felt repetitive after the first part. However, despite the negatives it was a fight that reminded me of classic video game boss battles and both the frustration and satisfaction that comes with them. Often the modern age of gaming has been accused of being too easy, so it was good to see a classic tough boss in a modern game to stand against that claim.
