8 Best Superhero Video Games That Didn't Come From DC Or Marvel

Unlike every other game on this list, City Of Heroes can no longer be played because of having its plug pulled and being sent to the great sever in the sky that awaits all MMOs not named World Of Warcraft.

With its advanced creation suite, Paragon Studios gave players the opportunity to turn their embarrassingly bad superhero drawings into a reality – a wardrobe where they could treat their custom superheroes like runway models rather than protectors of the people.

Players got to pick which powers and abilities they wanted to pummel bad guys with, which could be changed at any time if the same special effects became too repetitive and boring during some always frantic combat in boss battles and team warfare.

The easiest way to summarise the long dead MMO is to say that its missions, boss battles, and team combat has been copied by DC Universe Online. But, unlike the far more limited DCUO, no two custom superheroes ever looked, felt, or played identical in City Of Heroes.
