8 Bizarre Reasons Video Games Were Pulled From Sale

GTA LIBERTY CITY STORIES

Now whilst sources regarding whether or not EA's title 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa was actually outright banned are a little murky, but the resulting faux pas from EA's mistake required a swift update less than a month after the game's release to rectify things.

Several countries in 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa had footballs you could choose that were designed to match their respective flags, which for the majority of countries was a fun extra option that let you further represent your territory in matches.

In Saudi Arabia's case however, their football caused a bit of an outrage (to put things lightly). As the design was modelled after Saudi Arabia's flag, it featured, to quote a member on EA's message boards at the time "the word of unity, and God’s name", something several Islamic players took offense to, as it meant you could kick "Allah's name".

As previously stated, whether or not this directly got the game taken off of store shelves in Saudi Arabia is difficult to verify (despite what certain sources attest) - but it did result in EA patching the ball out of existence, immediately after 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa released.
