8 Bold Predictions For Nintendo At E3 2016

3. Fans Are Going To See A Classic Franchise Return (But Not How They Want It To)

No predictions list would be complete without a slightly more negative one, and given Nintendo's track record recently, it's only fair to assume that not everything is going to be fantastic. Specifically, we're almost guaranteed to see a beloved franchise plucked from its typical gameplay scenario and placed somewhere radically different. Don't know what I'm taking about? In recent years, Nintendo has talked about its desire to use its franchises more fluidly and more liberally, reaping the benefits of its valuable characters without having to wait years and years (and years) until an entry in the main series is developed. Recently, fans have seen this happen with Animal Cross: Amiibo Festival and Metroid Prime: Federation Force. Both are games that don't resemble their main franchise but utilize characters and settings in a completely different and (until now at least) disappointing way. Given the earliest the NX is going to launch is winter 2016, Nintendo may still have a couple Wii U games to squeeze out between now and then, but they won't be fully-fledged series entries. More likely, fans will be enraged by something like F-Zero: Cooking With Falcon or Earthbound: Snakes, Ladders And Other Boardgames. In all seriousness, expect at least one piece of franchise desecration.
