4. Invincible AI Air Squadron - Ace Combat Series

In many games centered around map-based warfare, it's common for deserters to be treated as such and given warnings to return to the conflict lest they get cast in a Cadian Defence force feature film and get shot by their Commissar.

And while this feature is true of many games in the Ace Combat series, with the titles giving the player a warning and then marking them as absconding from the mission at hand, some of the later games in the franchise have started ramping things up somewhat.

For if you decide to take a wee break from the action, you'll be met with even more action in the form of an unkillable squad of ace pilots arriving on the scene. It's genuinely terrifying to sometimes see them flying towards you only to split off with maneuvers you couldn't even do with Tool Assist.

Adding to this terror is that the squads are usually in vehicles beyond your own, even if you're at the max the game can offer, and also possess unlimited ammo and missiles, meaning that your Red Arrow display is going to be a Dead Arrow straight to the ground within moments.

Worse still, if you end up triggering this death squadron, even returning to the mission won't shake them. In war, there are no take-backs it seems.
