8 Convoluted Video Game Narratives NOBODY Understands

"What it's Pathologic?" you might ask, and I will immediately begin sweating bullets as I try to figure out which part of the game to even attempt to grasp onto first.

I guess you could begin by stating that the plot both does and very much does not make sense. Focusing on a remote town that is experiencing a rather nasty dose of Nurgles Blessings, it's your job to stop the spread of the plague while also uncovering its origins and why many of the townspeople seem so very, very odd.

The problem is that the game makes every step of the way as painful for you as possible, doling out woeful combat mechanics, quest related NPC's who die if you don't help them, and even positing the other playable characters in the world and having them live out their own questlines but making them choose the worst possible outcome for YOUR character each and every time.

Add on top of this dialogue that seems to have been plucked from a high school Shakespeare production AND the fact that characters lie to you all the time because they have their own ambitions and goals, and you'll be left reeling long before the game explicitly tells you it's a game and introduces you to the developers and you have a chat about how all of this is pointless.

Don't even fight it, just let your brain fall out of your ear.

Jules Gill hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
