8 First-Person Video Games That Changed Gaming Forever

5. Mirror's Edge

Before Mirror's Edge, there wasn't anything that could so realistically capture the experience of parkour. Most games allow you some sort of equipment to scale walls or climb ledges, but Mirror's Edge introduced us to a whole new mechanic of approaching technical set pieces: free running.

DICE's Mirror's Edge tells the story of Faith Connors - a Runner - who along with her resistance group, fight against the Orwellian establishment of a dystopian and totalitarian city.

Faced with the crushing force of the city's police and politics who attempt to destroy the Runners, Faith gets caught in the middle of a murder and must find the real killer as a powerful and shadowy enemy closes in.

The first person camera of Mirror's Edge gave us such an incredibly unique and beautiful experience as we jumped from building to building, kicked down and sprinted through doors, and ran on top of trains. The brightly colored, sterile city was the perfect stomping grounds for those of us who wanted to test Faith's running skills.

You can actually feel your adrenaline surge as you pray that you make it to the other side moments after performing a gigantic death defying jump.
