8 Forgotten Video Games That Should Be Revived

Last Release - Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow (2007)

Whilst the first-person shooter has become an all-conquering juggernaut in the form of Battlefield and Call of Duty, the third-person shooter has largely slipped under the radar by comparison. Today, third-person shooting is more commonly part of a larger action-adventure game (such as Uncharted), rather than the foundation of one in its own right.

Most modern games also include stealth sections alongside other action rather than focusing on it outright. As a stealth-orientated third-person shooter, Syphon Filter probably wouldn't fare too well in the modern market with its original premise.

Games can evolve with the times, however, and the often-gripping story of Gabe Logan is long overdue another visit after the whirlwind release of six titles over an eight year period ended abruptly a decade ago. At no point since then has the ambiguous ending of Logan's Shadow, which saw him left for dead, been addressed, making the matter more frustrating.

The fact that the studio behind the series, Bend, are still active as a Sony subsidiary has always lent credence to rumours that a new game may yet be forthcoming given how frequently developers are axed.

Though they are currently in the process of developing Days Gone, an 'open world post-apocalyptic action-adventure survival horror game' that doesn't yet have an official release date, who knows what the future might hold?
