8 Great Trailers For Underwhelming Video Games
7. Assassin’s Creed: Unity
Well much can and has been said about the quality of Assassin’s Creed: Unity at launch but its trailer stood out as a showcase of what the new eighth generation of consoles was able to put out.
The Assassin’s Creed series is no stranger to epic cinematic moments throughout its history and the Unity trailer is among the best. With its haunting rendition of "Everybody wants to rule the world" by Lorde, some dazzling visuals and an atmospheric take on the French revolution, this trailer set expectations to the max.
In the 2014 world premiere trailer, we were introduced to new assassin, Arno, with a bang. We got to see a dark and visceral interpretation of late 1700s Paris and were teased with the idea of playing the game cooperatively over multiplayer.
Needless to say, fans were all aboard the hype train.
After the game released however, perceptions were not as positive with many complaining about the technical issues, bugs and the lack of innovation with the gameplay. If you know anything about games, you would have probably heard this story as it was a pretty well covered failure and few can forget that “no face” glitch.
