8 Great Trailers For Underwhelming Video Games
2. Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2
Now to say this game was a bit of a disappointment would be understating it a little.
Lords of Shadow 2 failed to live up to the success of its predecessors in pretty much every way. It had lacklustre stealth moments, unimaginative visual design and while the boss battles were still an enjoyable aspect, the game itself was not a great ride when compared to some of the astonishing titles that came before it. The series itself had not hit the heights of 1997’s Symphony of the Night for quite some time and was showing signs of fatigue.
The E3 2012 announcement trailer for this game however captured all of what make this series so special.
A trailer that is still appreciated to this day, picks up right after the previous game’s epilogue and shows Gabriel Belmont, now fully realized as Dracula, take on an army of knights storming his castle.
The trailer boasts some truly amazing visuals and animation for the time, displaying Dracula’s full power set and ends spectacularly with the reveal of Alucard while teasing the face-off between the two.
And let’s not forget that chilling “No reflection in the mirror” bit, either.
So. Cool.
