8 Great Video Games That Take Place In A SINGLE Building
5. The Stanley Parable
Spoilers.
You’d think that an entire game which takes place in a single office would get a bit boring.
The thing is, the office from The Stanley Parable is a front for one of the most creative games ever made. It serves as a commentary on a player's relationship with video games, how us sitting down doing what we're told can be related to an office worker who is just following orders.
That's a gross oversimplification of the themes of The Stanley Parable and this isn't the article to go into the brilliant ideas explored in the game but it's important to know that the office in The Stanley Parable is exclusively a place to be meta about the idea of a video game, and in no way simulates a real office space.
Yeah at first it may appear normal, there's office blocks, a break room, and a managers office but then there's a mind-control facility, a museum dedicated to the game itself, the original version of The Stanley Parable, an unfinished area with missing textures, and the video games Portal and Minecraft. Yeah, the game’s weird.
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe can't come soon enough.
