8 Greatest Adventure Games We All Still Love

6. King€™s Quest VI

King€™s Quest had an important role to play in the history of adventure games. It is often claimed to be the first successful adventure title to make extensive use of graphics rather than text. The series has gone through many different iterations but the most popular, and probably the most fondly remembered is King€™s Quest VI. Released in 1992 the game follows on from its predecessors in the Land of the Green Isles. The story sees Prince Alex looking to rescue the Princess Cassima across the different islands. It is a love story that sees the Prince travelling to a variety of worlds, battling enemies and overcoming a wide range of obstacles. Some of the puzzles can be challenging but on the whole they were relatively straightforward compared to some of the other entries on the list. Every puzzle completed would lead to new areas to explore, making them incredibly satisfying. A lavish art style as well as a distinctive look for each island (like the Alice in Wonderland themed level) gave King€™s Quest VI a memorable appearance. It also features a number of alternate endings that could be seen by taking different paths through the main game. The cinematic scenes were incredible for their time as well leading to more immersion in the game. The voice acting was also a vast improvement over its predecessor.
