When fear grips your heart it can lead you to making snap decisions that aren't always the most level headed. You might make a terrible choice to run upstairs like all those doomed horror movie protagonists or drop what you were carrying and sprint away instead of taking time to analyse the situation, and it's in these moments, if you just took just a second, you might find that the horror you're facing is actually kind of laughably easy to overcome.

Take for example the running gag that has persisted across nearly all of the Final Fantasy games when it comes to undead enemies. With this knowledge those fights with zombies, mutated presidents and even entire trains can be turned from slogs to mere seconds, rending them asunder and making us laugh in the process.
