8 Indie Game Characters We’d Love To See In Super Smash Bros

Stepping into the shoes of this retro-inspired, hole digging, blue armour touting knight was an absolute blast, and he cornered the independent market quickly. Fans fell in love with the titular Shovel Knight, and there's been plenty of interest drummed up already for him to come to Smash, so Nintendo needs only to capitalise on this momentum before it's gone.

As a fighter, there's no doubt he'd be exciting as his signature weapon is unique and can be used for multiple purposes such as flinging projectiles, attacking head on, and even possibly messing with the map itself.

Nintendo even seems to understand his popularity, as he has a place in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, but only as an assist trophy. When fans learned he'd be coming into the game, they were overblown with excitement, but not getting the chance to play as him feels like teasing on Nintendo's part.

So, let's hope they deliver one day by making him a fully playable character. They've already got the art assets for him, so why not go the extra mile?
