Sid Meir's Civilisation is a legendary strategy series that first saw its inception in 1991 and it puts players on a timer to become the most advanced civilisation on the map. Some players use culture to wow the factions into loving them while others invest into the sciences to become the technological marvel of the world, and some... want to watch the world burn.

Any game containing a weapon that can turn Mahatma Gandhi into, probably, the first ever meme is bound to write itself into gaming folklore. A coding mishap in the original game meant that this revered Indian humanitarian was inclined to destroy his opposition with nuclear bombs.

Using the nukes yourself in game, especially in the most recent titles, is endlessly satisfying. A siren is sounded and the warheads launch then you get the joy of watching. You'll grin from ear to ear as your opponents (or former friends) city goes up in flames... devastating everything they've built.

These endgame technologies are perhaps the most rewarding finale to a game of CIV there is. The long game times mean they're the ultimate show of dominance and are endlessly rewarding to use.
