8 More Iconic Video Game Weapons

3. The Fat Man (Fallout)

Fallout is a series that's evolved from a turn based RPG to, more recently, a shooter with RPG mechanics.

This growing emphasis on shooting has brought on, thankfully, much improved gunplay. However what really sets the combat options apart is some original aesthetics and charming designs. For example there's the railway rifle in Fallout 3 or the Shishkebab in Fallout 4 which are real stand outs. However, there's one post apocalyptic weapon that's more feared than all others... the Fatman.

It's quite quaint really... a handheld nuclear warhead launcher that fires like a slingshot. What's not to love?

First introduced in the capital wasteland of Fallout 3; The Fatman is simultaneously the strongest, loudest and most ridiculous weapon in the entire franchise.

It's so overpowered that it'll kill almost anything with ease. The real appeal of this nuclear spectacle though is the explosion itself. Every time you fire the weapon you're treated to a miniature mushroom cloud that devours your enemies and bellows high into the sky.

It's a real force to be reckoned with that fits its franchises themes and setting perfectly.
