8 Most Wanted Video Game Remakes (That Would RUIN The Original)

5. Psychonauts

Psychonauts is simply one of the most original video games ever made - a psychedelic fever dream of an adventure-platformer that's dripping with invention from start to finish.

With the long-belated sequel Psychonauts 2 winning the series a heft of new fans, there are of course those who would love developer Double Fine to remake the now-two-decades-old original.

While it's basically impossible to deny that Psychonauts' gameplay is rather dated - especially as the sequel tidied it up so much - the fusion of all that jank with the intentionally "ugly" graphical style is a perfect compliment to the game's overall twisted dream-logic.

It's easy to picture a remake that excessively beautifies the original game and in turn loses much of the awkward charm that helped make Psychonauts a blazing cult fave in the first place.

It is a rare game whose awkwardness is genuinely a net-positive to the overall experience, and a remake would almost certainly rip all that creative friction away.
