8 Predictions For The Upcoming WWE 2K23 Announcement
7. Bray Wyatt DLC
Last year's release was marred by the fact that, due to McMahon & Kahn's cost-cutting ways, over 30 members of 2K22's roster had been released by the time the game launched. This year's release may well face the opposite problem - many of those wrestlers have since come back, but likely too late to be included in WWE2K23 at launch.
Of those wrestlers, Bray Wyatt is the one whose absence will be felt most keenly by the fans. The most unique sports-entertainer in the game today, Bray Wyatt has an unrivalled ability to generate fan-interest through promos and character work alone.
Which does explain why Wyatt's current character will likely be relegated to DLC – the date of the upcoming reveal is also the date of Wyatt's first match since his return. Given Wyatt's complete lack of in-ring action (in this incarnation of the character), you can forgive the developers for not designing a wrestler who has yet to actually wrestle.
Wyatt's upcoming Lights Out match at the Royal Rumble will finally give 2K23's developers something to work with for future DLC and, on a personal note, this writer can't deny that he's looking forward to seeing the latest incarnation of Wyatt's madness take shape. Whether the match proves to be a a Firefly Funhouse-level work of genius or a House of Horrors-esque Z-movie snoozefest, it'll certainly be worth discussing 'round the water-cooler.
