While it's totally fine that Sekiro opted to drop the multiplayer elements in favour of a more focused solo experience, you don't actually realise how much you enjoyed the multiplayer features in Dark Souls until they're not there.

While PvP and PvE are their own unique beast - and the decision to force players to tackle challenges head on rather than calling in someone to help does arguably make for a more satisfying experience overall - the act of reading messages left by other players adds such a unique element to Dark Souls. The world itself is overbearing and oppressive, but the notes left behind by others make it clear you're not alone.

Not only does it keep the world feeling lived in and that you're part of a larger journey, but it also facilitates exploration. FromSoftware's worlds are purposefully obtuse, and these pointers can usher you down the right path without leaving you running around trying to figure out what to do next.
