8 Reasons EA Aren't Doing As Bad As You Think

6. Holding The Star Wars License

Even though EA is canning games left, right and centre, they still hold the licence to one of the most profitable franchises of all time. It doesn't matter what they make with it because we will still pay attention. It's Star Wars, for gods sake.

Despite their current trend of canning games left, right and centre, they still hold the licence to one of the most profitable franchises of all time. Star Wars is one of the pop-cultures pillars and has the sticking power to out-last a lost of other franchises. So, having access to anything related to them is guaranteed money.

It doesn't matter what EA make with it, because we will all pay attention regardless. All they have to do is flash the name around a little and we'll at least look up at them. You need only look at the outrage over EA cancelling a game that had only twenty seconds of pre-rendered footage revealed.

Star Wars is their biggest asset when it comes to appealing to the mass audience. As long as there are movies coming out, they have the ability to glean a lot of that hype. And a Change.org petition isn't going to force them to drop the licence.

I like video games, writing and writing about video games. Expect sarcasm and the dry wit of a Brit. And the occasional rant of a unhappy Scot. You know... the usual.
