8 Reasons EA Aren't Doing As Bad As You Think
5. People Who Are Willing Use Lootboxes
Loot boxes, in their current state, are perhaps the single biggest plague in the gaming industry. They are manipulative and can completely destroy a game's progression system. However, despite all the mass outrage, they are still a popular addition to most games.
Why? Because people use them.
Bear in mind, these aren't average players. These are people with money to spare. More often than not, if someone is willing to buy a loot box, they aren't going to stop at one. They are repeat customers and, as far as EA is concerned, where their profit lies. Their focus is on keeping those players in their games so that they'll be encouraged to play more.
And it must be working. The international outrage, the intervening of governments, and overbearing hatred for the systems still don't stop companies from including them. They may be really scummy, but they make bank.
